Which Type Of Training Is Best For Fat Loss?

You have set your fitness goals and now need to decide which exercises you want to add to your fitness routine to help you burn away that unwanted fat. The best way is to add a combination of both strength training and cardiovascular.

strength training is the most beneficial methods of fat loss. By building muscle, you are in turn increasing your metabolism and helping your body to burn even more calories. Also with strength training, your body begins to burn a large number of calories even after you have finished training.

With strength training you have many options. For beginners or someone who doesn't have access to a gym or equipment, bodyweight exercises are a great option for fat loss. Another option is using the push/pull split. This is a great way to get in a total body workout that allows you to perform more exercises per workout and get more recovery time.

Some key points when doing strength training are make sure to warm up and stretch before your workout, lift the weights in slow, steady movements and don't forget to breathe.

Cardiovascular exercise is the 2nd part of your fat loss fitness routine. Cardio can be done following your strength training or as separate training on the opposite day of strength training. Cardio is not only a great aid to fat loss, but also to help you to maintain a healthy heart. The best form of cardio is HIIT or high Intensity Interval training. HIIT involves intervals of varying intensities, some very high. Interval training can be as simple as doing an all-out sprint, jogging to lower your heart rate, and then sprinting once again. This should be done anywhere from 15-30 minutes. The advantage to HIIT is that you are burning more calories in a shorter period of time. You can perform HIIT on almost anything, such as bike, treadmill, elliptical, or even bodyweight circuits.

It is best to perform strength training workouts at least 3 times per week and also perform HIIT 3 times per week. Make sure to change up your workouts every 6-8 weeks to avoid a fat loss plateau. Changing your workouts also keeps your workouts fresh and new and makes you less likely to stop doing them and gives you a better chance of reaching your fitness goals!

Golf Shoes - Do I Really Need Them?

It seems like everybody and their brother wants to play golf these days. Stemming from the 1920s when walter Hagen became the first person to actually make a living by playing golf, to the 1960s when arguably the greatest player ever, Jack Nicklaus, made $33 with his first paycheck as a pro, golf has quickly become a multi-billion dollar industry, with players routinely making million dollar checks for a win, not to mention these ridiculous endorsement deals. Tiger woods makes grabbing a check for $100 million from Nike look like child's play.

Now you're saying, Hm, I want a piece of that. I'd better get some golf balls and clubs and hit the course. Ah, such a common mistake. What did you forget? Shoes!!

Now, wait a minute you say. They're just shoes, right? Wrong! Would a basketball player hit the hardwood wearing tennis shoes? Nope. He would risk spraining his ankle and couldn't move as effectively. Would a bowler hit the lanes wearing football cleats? Nope, he'd be on his butt in no time and well, the owner's may not think too kindly of cleats indoors. The case is the same in golf, but even more dramatic.

Not only do proper shoes keep your feet dry during play, but they will keep a very important tool of your golf swing rooted; your feet! Although it doesn't stand out as much clubs that fit properly, proper golf shoes are a key to developing a good swing. Why? Think about how much torque a golf swing puts on your legs and feet throughout the golf swing. Watch the pros when they blast their drives 330+ yards. As a they turn away from the ball, their feet fight to stay in place, rooted like two tree trunks to the ground by their cleats, and their cleats only. The same happens on the way down. They'll swing through with the torque on their feet almost ripping the ground below them, but their cleats keep them rooted throughout. Imagine how ugly this would be with no traction. They couldn't swing as hard without slipping, thus creating a lesser potential for distance.

A common mistake new golfers make is to hit the links in an old pair of tennis shoes, thinking golf shoes aren't important. Well I have news for you. If you go out in tennis shoes, it's going to be like swinging in socks on a tile floor. It doesn't exactly grip very well, especially when it's wet.

What this can lead to is a bad weight shift from the start, because your body's natural balancing mechanisms are doing everything they can to keep you on your feet. I see it all the time on the driving range. people are out to have some harmless fun whacking some golf balls, which is all in good fun of course. But then I see them twisting, slipping, and sliding all over the place from the massive amount of torque, all while ingraining bad swing habits.

So if you are serious about learning how to play golf, even just for recreation, do yourself a favor and pick up a good pair of golf shoes. Make sure the pair you decide to buy fit well. If your feet slide around in them, your balance can be thrown off as well. Make sure your toes are in the proper spots. And guys, golf shoes aren't masculine anyway, so check your ego at the door on this one fellas; and ladies, don't try to squeeze into a size smaller. You're gonna be on your feet a lot, so you'll want them to be comfortable. Tie them tight all the way down and you'll have the best chance of being balanced. But of course, be comfortable too.

If you're on a tight budget, you can get a pair of brand new FJ GreenJoys for $50, or an off brand for even less. I promise you, they will make a much bigger difference than that $80 dollar lob wedge you think you need.

Make sure your shoes fit right, have a good set of spikes in them, and you'll be well on your way to a stable base for golf and probably more distance as well.

Why Not Try A Spot of Golf in Cyprus?

Although the art of golf first reached the shores of Cyprus quite a few decades ago with the opening of the first course within the British Sovereign Base at Akrotiri, it was the opening of the Tsada golf Course in 1994 which truly marks the beginning of the games spread across Aphrodites Isle.

Since those days, golf in Cyprus has experienced a veritable explosion in popularity especially due to the growing influx of immigrants and holidaymakers from the UK.

Now, just 13 years after Tsadas opening, Cyprus already features three additional courses (not including those in the British bases), with another eleven to fourteen being constructed during the coming 3 to 5 years in a concerted effort to put the Republic of Cyprus firmly on the international golfing map.

What about the Republics existing golf courses?

The Aphrodite hills golf and Country Club:

Located near the village of Kouklia, about halfway between Limassol and Paphos, this spectacular complex is currently considered to be the jewel in the crown of golf in Cyprus. This 6269 metres spectacular course is located on two plateaux separated by a ravine running down to the nearby coast, plays to a par 70/71 and offers some truly spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea.

The Secret Valley golf and Country Club:

First opened in 1996, Secret Valley was the second golf course to be opened in Cyprus. As the name implies, it is located in a secluded little valley, so close to Aphrodite hills that some of Aphrodite Hills golf properties actually overlook the Secret Valley course. This particular venue is currently undergoing a major expansion programme which is set to make it one of the finest golf resorts in the Mediterranean, but more of these plans shortly.

Tsada golf Course:

Cyprus original golf course is still considered by many to provide the best playing experience of any course on the island. Set at an altitude of around 500 metres above sea level in the hills above Paphos, Tsada is never without a cooling breeze. Its elevation also puts it well above the coastal humidity zone, so it offers a pleasant playing experience, even in the heat of the Cypriot summer.

Vikla golf Course:

Unlike the Republics three other courses; Vikla is not located in the Paphos area. Instead it is set in the hills above Limassol, just a few miles north-east of the town. Originally designed as a 9-hole course, Vikla was later extended and now offers a decidedly family-orientated playing experience. With no handicap certificate required, this course provides an ideal starting point for novice golfers.

But what of the new golf courses in Cyprus?

Some time ago, the Cypriot government, in association with the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO), declared its unswerving commitment to firmly establish Cyprus place on the international golfing scene by issuing licences for the construction of a further eleven golf courses across the island.

Whilst there can be no doubt that all of these courses will be well designed and thought out, there are nevertheless two venues which have attracted more attention from golfers (and indeed overseas homebuyers) than any of the others.

Secret Valley:

With the addition of a further three courses to the existing facility, this is easily the most ambitious and luxurious golf development in Cyprus and, once finished will see the resort rivalling such exclusive destinations as Vale dos Lobos, Sun City and La Manga.

But golf courses are not the only thing being constructed at Secret Valley. In addition, the resort will also include a large number of highly exclusive golf properties, a retail village, leisure & fitness centre, football & tennis academies, two 5-star hotels, a seafront entertainment & water sports complex and 500 metres of manmade beach.

There is no question that, once works have been completed, the Secret Valley golf and Country Club will become the Jewel in the Crown of golf in Cyprus, if not the entire Mediterranean.

Larnaca golf Course and Country Club:

Whilst not as grand a plan as Secret Valley, the Larnaca golf course has nevertheless attracted an awful lot of attention, simply because it is set to become the first 18-hole grass course in the islands east. Set just outside the small village of Tersefanou near Larnaca, this course will form the heart of a large scale leisure and residential golf complex, including hotels, shops, bars, restaurants and more which is sure to turn it into a main attraction for the Larnaca area.

If, like many avid golfers, you are tired of the rain, floods, fog and the generally damp playing environment found in the UK, you might want to consider taking a look at Cyprus. With an average 326 days of sunshine each year, there is certainly no shortage of opportunities to play its courses, both current and future.

As an avid golfer, brian Rettendon has been living in Cyprus since 2001. Since 2005, he has been working as a sales manager for Aphrodite Property Sales, the 100% independent Cyprus property specialist. The Disney Cruise Ships

Disney' cruise ships - the Disney magic and the disney Wonder - embody the style and spirit of the grand ocean liners of days gone by, coupled with every modern amenity you have come to expect from a premiere cruise line. The two ships are basically identical save for some decorating details - the Wonder is decked out in an Art Nouveau style, while the magic is fashioned in an Art Deco style - and the names of some of the restaurants and clubs. Both ships incorporate an interesting dining rotation, whereby your tablemates (in fact- the entire dining room full of guests) is rotated through the 3 restaurants along with your servers and wait staff, so that you get to experience a different restaurant each night without sacrificing the careful attention and pampering of having your own servers. And what restaurants they are - Parrots Cay embodies a fun, tropical flavor (and incidentally serves a fabulous breakfast buffet, and disney characters often drop by unannounced, so be sure to have those cameras and autograph books handy!). Animator's Palate is a most unique restaurant where the dcor starts out black, white and grey, but by the end of the meal is a full burst of colors and disney pictures, all coordinated with a musical soundtrack, and Lumiere's/Triton's, which is an elegant restaurant decorated with beautiful mosaics depicting scenes from The little mermaid on the disney Wonder and Beauty and the Beast on the disney magic.

Both ships have a variety of features and activities designed exclusively for the younger set, including a family pool and water slide (fashioned as Mickey's gloved hand), snack bars poolside serving chicken nuggets, french fries and ice cream, a fully-equipped kids 'camp' open 'till midnight with counselors, great activities, play areas and computers, great disney-themed shoes (including one starring all of the kids onboard, assisted by their counselors), and more characters than you could ever meet at disney world. All of this attention to the kids certainly doesn't shortchange the adults, who are treated to their own pool and spas, adult-only restaurant (make reservations as soon as you board- Paolo's is a big hit), adult clubs, and even their own beautiful, private cove on the beach at Disney' own Castaway Cay island paradise.

rooms on the Disney Cruise ships are about 25% larger than comparable rooms on other cruise ships, and many include a unique split 1 1/2 bath, to make getting ready easier for families. There is certainly more food than you could eat or activities you could participate in to fill several cruises, and you'll certainly find yourself wishing that the cruise were longer - or start planning your next cruise before you even disembark!
